The principals at daSILVA Architects—Jaques Black, Chip Calcagni, Anton Martinez and Paul Whitson—foster an atmosphere of collaboration with both our technical staff and our clients. Our staff size allows for principals to be intimately engaged with every stage of every project, while encouraging the creative input the firm’s associates.

With a strong foundation in the discipline of health care design, daSILVA is now establishing its reputation in other markets.

We have experience with a wide range of building types, including single- and multi-family residences; colleges and universities; research laboratories; and corporate offices. To each specialty, daSILVA brings the same passion and continues a tradition of training young architects while simultaneously expanding our capabilities and our staff.

Philanthropy

daSILVA employees are encouraged to actively participate and volunteer for industry associations that include American Institute of Architects (AIA), New York Society for Health Planning, Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and American Society of Hospital Engineers (ASHE).

Through an employee led initiative, we support the Heifer Foundation, which helps international communities to combat hunger and poverty by providing them with the tools to rebuild their villages and families. www.heiferfoundation.org

Mentoring

Members of our staff mentor students through the AIGA/NY Mentoring Program (www.aiganymentoring.org), which pairs students from the High School of Art and Design with working professionals.

Each year we also employ several student interns, helping them to learn the workings of our profession and encouraging them to pursue careers in architecture.
