Harman/Kardon, an innovator in the field of audio and video technology, asked daSILVA Architects to create a fresh, updated look for their 60,000 SF distribution and management headquarters, located in a Long Island office park. The program demanded a modern building with three entrances that face away from the main road. Additional design challenges were a main entrance easily visible and accessible from the street, and an entry from parking lots located behind the structure. The final design solution incorporates three new poured-in-place concrete entrances and a standing-seam metal screen curtain-wall that emphasizes the horizontal lines of the building. A new roof, standing-seam sheathing and landscaping further enhance the upgrade.
