Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center,
New York, NY
daSILVA Architects renovated three floors in the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, originally designed by Massimo Vignelli. The limited area required sophisticated planning and a sensitive approach to detailing. We converted an existing exam suite on the lobby level into open offices to replace administrative space on the concourse level. The concourse level administrative space was subsequently converted to chemotherapy infusion rooms. The lower concourse renovation centered on the installation of new mammography equipment. We designed spaces for new radiology equipment, new mammography rooms, a stereotactic biopsy room and reading rooms. We developed a warm and engaging atmosphere for each with the goal of creating a nurturing environment for individual chemotherapy recipients.
