Private Residence, Pelham, NY
This 4,300 SF single family, custom
designed for a private client, was
tailored to fit seamlessly into its
diverse surroundings. Existing houses on
the block were built in a variety of
architectural styles—Mediterranean, Tudor,
Normandy, Craftsman, and Colonial Revival.
The new Georgian Revival style house—built
on an empty lot—references Thomas
Jefferson’s Monticello and Palladio. The
house integrates smoothly into the
neighborhood, a major concern of the
community.
Although the house was built with
traditional materials, the methods of
construction were entirely modern and the
resulting structure is filled with the
amenities suitable to contemporary family
life.
