Carriage House Residence

This new residence in an historic former carriage house incorporates approximately 7,500 SF on 3.5 floors. The project involved gutting the existing structure, providing new floor and roof construction; and adding the third story in a manner approved by the Landmarks Commission, as well as renovating all the interior areas, and redesigning and building the entire rear facade. The project involved multiple construction phases and was completed in ten months. daSILVA's main design objective was to create a family-centered house in the city. We redesigned the interior around a central skylit stairwell, which unifies the spaces and allows for natural light to filter through the core of the house.
