Montefiore Medical Center
Bronx, NY
daSILVA Architects has worked with Montefiore Medical Center since 1985, completing a variety of projects that include their Moses Research Tower, the Minimally Invasive Teaching Laboratory, and most recently, renovations to the Obstetrics and Emergency Departments.
Weiler Obstetrics Department Renovation
Montefiore Medical Center renovated its OB Department to expand the number of labor/delivery rooms to ten and enhance the facility’s overall environment. The department occupies two floors of the Weiler Pavilion [6th floor north and south (completed 2006) and 5th floor south (completed 2005)]. New sprinklers and fire alarm systems were installed, in compliance with all applicable New York City codes. The baby abduction alarm system was extended to cover all points of egress from the unit.
Obstetrics Post-Partum Wing
Of the 26 new post-partum rooms on the fifth floor, three are accessible and two are isolation rooms. Each patient room was designed using natural finishes and textures. Wood handrails and pine doors compliment the stone tiles in the hallways, and create an inviting and soothing environment for patients and their families.
Labor and Delivery Wing
daSILVA completed eight new LDR rooms for Montefiore Medical Center in 2006. Each room was designed to resemble a bedroom at home—complete with wood flooring, warm lighting and decor, computer access and other comforting amenities.
