As part of a requirements contract, daSILVA Architects worked with Judd Designs to develop this 10,000 SF office space, located in a landmark building on lower Broadway in Manhattan.

The program consisted of executive office suites with adjacent secretarial offices, administration, key support areas with multiple workstations, a printing suite, and main reception. Existing features, such as 12' tall arched windows and plaster ceiling medallions, were retained and employed. New glass, wood, and aluminum partitions and office systems give the main space a clean and contemporary feel.

The boardroom contained many features of the original building, such as wood paneling and ornate plaster ceilings and moldings, under many layers of paint and decay. daSILVA detailed the plans, restoration work and finishes. HHC’s internal crew carried out the meticulous restoration of each piece.

Board Room
daSILVA provided professional architectural design services for the renovation of the Board Room. The room has extensive classical early 20th century architectural detailing at the ceiling and walls. daSILVA’s design task was to restore the details and highlight the aesthetics of the room in a cost effective manner. Included in the renovations were the entry hall and accommodations for a new AC unit in the adjacent space. A historically accurate restoration was not required; rather, the renovation attempts at once to be sympathetic to the original design intent and open to the incorporation of new technologies and materials in the room.
