This co-op apartment on Manhattan’s upper west side recently underwent a major transformation. Inspired by the owner’s art collection, daSILVA Architects reformulated the colors, textures, space, and light to correspond with the family’s many paintings. The final product was born from the art, collection. Interior designer, Michelle Bisaccia, knew where each painting would go before the design process began.
The warm reds, soft blues, and creams within the paintings are echoed in the furniture and finishes. Venetian mosaics and detailed woodwork in both the bathroom and kitchen evoke an understated elegance. Wood paneling in the living room and molding throughout the apartment were restored to their original splendor.
New cabinetry and accessories were installed in the guest bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. State of the art electric, plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning systems were installed. Windows were replaced, and lighting systems were redesigned for each room.
The transformed residence exudes warmth, simplicity, sophistication; the spaces are cozy, yet open.
