Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
New York, NY
The growing research program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center demanded new and dynamic dry lab space to facilitate its disparate programs. Flexibility and connectivity were two key features provided by daSILVA Architects in the 24,000 SF project. This unconventional lab space houses the Office for Clinical Research, Computational Biology, and Epidemiology and Biostatistics. The enhanced flexibility and connectivity allows scientists, doctors, and technical staff to create mathematical models that support clinical and laboratory research. The models created are used to predict the viability of potential treatment methods.
The bulk of the renovated space was fit-out with systems furniture to provide flexibility and accommodate future programs. High-speed computer connections and a large data center connect this satellite office to the research labs at the main campus, creating virtual proximity in lieu of physical proximity.
