Projects: Previous | Next

As the third phase of a major campus design initiative at Jacobi Medical Center, daSILVA Architects created a master plan for the hospital’s original building (12 stories) that had emptied into two new additions. The plan involved department relocations and quantification of their space needs.

The process included the review of an earlier master plan study as well as blocking and stacking diagrams. We surveyed three existing buildings to show current occupants and space allocations and developed a functional adjacencies matrix. We conducted meetings with departmental and administrative representative to determine their programmatic needs and projected growth.

We presented two viable options to the client: one showing the most effective and rational locations to provide maximum benefit to the hospital, and a second based on the most efficient and easily obtainable results at the least price. Phasing scenarios for the implementation of the plans were developed along with a rating matrix to help with objective analysis of location of various relocated departmental spaces. We also provided evaluation and ranking of development options and projected cost per square foot estimates.
